An evening of 4-8 authors reading their short fiction and poetry, including Alison McBain. Every 3rd Tuesday of the month @ 7-9pm – WritersMic @ Panera’s Restaurant, 1860 Post Road (near Home Goods), Westport. Free, casual open-mike format – all forms of creative writing OK to read. Each reader will have 5 minutes/about 1000 words. While not a critique group, you can request feedback afterwards. February 9th (Saturday, today) @ 2pm-3pm – Guitar “Poetry” with Hiroya Tsukamoto @ Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road, Westport. Tsukamoto is an internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer originally from Japan. February 17th (Sunday) @ 1pm-4pm – The Fairfield Scribes are presenting a workshop (presenters include Ed Ahern and Alison McBain) on short story writing and submitting @ Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road, Westport. How to write, edit, and where to submit short stories for publication. Focus on speculative fiction, literary and mainstream stories. February 22nd (Friday) @ 1pm-3pm – A monthly discussion of a chosen poet, led by Dr. Alan Holder, this group meets on the last Friday of each month (skipping July and August) @ Ridgefield Library, 472 Main Street, Ridgefield. If a member of Friends of the Ridgefield Library, receive a complimentary copy of the poetry book under discussion. About Us:The Poets' Salon is an all-inclusive group that gets together the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m in the Memorial Room at the Fairfield Public Library. We read our poetry aloud, politely critique each others' work (upon request), highlight publishing opportunities, and also talk about local poetry readings. Meeting Notes
